The introductory program on the model agroforestry pilot project in the tea and coconut cultivated lands in the country sponsored by the Government of the Netherlands was conducted at the Waters Edge premises, Battaramulla on 18.03.2022.

This model agroforestry pilot project is funded by the Government of the Netherlands and is implemented under the supervision of the Coconut Research Institute, Tea Research Institute, University of Peradeniya and the Wageningen University of the Netherlands. 

This event was hosted by Her Excellency M.S. Anouk Baron, the Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Sri Lanka, Mr. Michelin Van Erkel, the Agricultural Advisor of the Government of the Netherlands, Mrs. Maaike Snel, the Project Manager, Mr. Ravindra Hewavitharana, Secretary, Ministry of Plantation, Dr. Saranga Alahapperuma, the Chairman of the Coconut Research Institute along with the Heads of Kurunegala and Maskeliya Plantation Companies.
